Edit a Word template
Change a Word template by clicking an AI block to change what it asks for, or by asking Templi in the chat beside the template. The page shows your Word file exactly as it prints, so you check the template the way your clients will see it.
You cannot type into the page itself. To change wording, layout or styles, ask Templi, or change the file in Word and import it again.
Where to find it
Go to Customise > Templates, open the menu on a template's row and choose Edit, or click the template. It opens at https://app.templi.ai/templates/<template>, with the chat on the left and the template on the right.
The buttons above the template are Template settings (the gear), Publish, Download, Test this template and Generate.
Change what a block asks for
Each AI block is highlighted on the page. Click one to open its settings.
Click the block on the page.
To rename it, click its name at the top of the card. A clear name, such as "Fund value", makes the block easier to find later.
Change its settings. The fields depend on the kind of block, as the table below shows.
Click Save.
Block | Settings |
|---|---|
AI prompt | What Templi writes, and If nothing is found: Flag as missing or Leave it out. Click Add example to show Templi what a good answer looks like. |
Show or hide | When should this be left out?, for example "the client does not hold an ISA". |
Repeat | What should this repeat for?, for example "each pension the client holds". |
Dropdown | For each option, AI context tells Templi when to pick it, for example "the client has a will in place". |
Table | Table description, for example "Recommended products with charges and risk ratings". |
Picture | Which file to look in, which page, and What to find, for example "projected value chart". |
Wording | Copy wording From a template or From a file. From a template, choose the template and its headings, then Insert all wording, Pick one or Pick multiple. With Pick one or Pick multiple, say when Templi should use each heading. |
To change a block in your own words, type in Ask Templi to change this block… at the bottom of the card.
To remove a block, open the More menu on its card and choose Delete, then Remove block. Templi stops filling it in, and its text stays in the template.
Ask Templi to change the template
Type in the chat beside the template to make any change. Templi can tag and untag blocks, hide or repeat whole sections, change block settings, and edit text, styles, headers, footers and tables. To ask about a passage, select it on the page and type in Ask Templi to change this.... For example:
"Hide the Defined benefit transfer section when the client has no defined benefit pension."
"Repeat the Your existing pension section for each pension the client is transferring."
"Make the fees paragraph a prompt that uses the adviser charge we agreed in the meeting."
"Turn the attitude to risk paragraph into a dropdown with our cautious, balanced and adventurous wordings."
"Change every heading to our navy and use Arial for body text."
A wording block copies from another template or file, so import that template or attach the file first.
Publish the template
Only published templates can be used to generate reports. We recommend testing a new template with Tuning before you publish it.
Click Publish.
Check the Name, Description and Type. Type is one of Suitability report, Annual review letter, Research or General.
Under Require a client, choose Yes if every report needs a client, or No for documents such as research.
Click Publish.
You can still ask Templi to change a published template. Reports you generate afterwards use the change, and reports you already made keep the version they were written from. To take a template back to draft, open Template settings and click Unpublish.
If Publish and Template settings are greyed out, your role does not let you edit templates. Ask an admin at your firm.
Download the template
Click Download and choose Download Word, Download Word (with AI Tags) to see where each block sits, Download PDF, or Download original upload to get back the file you imported.
Duplicate or delete a template
On the Templates tab, open the menu on a template's row. Duplicate Template makes a copy with a name you choose. Delete Template removes the template for good.
